CAPTAIN ADOROABLE!
Found this shirt while out shopping and just could not pass it up. As hard as we tried, Clay would not keep his hands on his hips in superhero position so we settled for a smile.
This past week Clay came down with his first "illness". He had a goopey eye for a couple of days and of course since it was the first time anything was wrong there was a call to the doctor's office. Since our pediatrician was out for the day a note was left for another Dr. and she prescribed some eye drops. As mommy was ready the directions to the eye drops, not only was Clay supposed to keep his eye closed for 2 minutes (yeah right unless he's asleep) the packaging also said product safety for children under 1 yr. had not been established. Um... yeah- clay's only 2 1/2 months. Needless to say - Clay did not get the eye drops and there was a call to the Dr. office the next day when our pediatrician was sure to be there. She said not to give him any medicine and just wipe his eye several times a day with a wet cotton ball (his eye is doing much better now) and that she nevers wants us to give him a prescription unless we come in to see her. I really like our pediatrician but really wish that her collegues would take the time to see how old the patient is before prescribing a medicine to them.
Clay discovered this week that he really likes his farm animals that you can squeeze and they make noise. He has not figured out how to squeeze them yet so mommy and daddy get to do it all the time for him. His favorite is the pig... here's a picture of them together.
Everything else is going great here and we're having fun watching our little angel grow everyday- it really is amazing how fast they grow - we've already grown out of tons of clothes!
We hope that you are all doing well!
We've started taking a lot more videos of Clay lately. As you can see with the two videos below, however, something with the camera makes Clay's body start doing funny things...
This past weekend we had our annual trip to the lake with some friends from home. It was the debut of a baby to the group weekend and Clay fit in like a champ. He was such a good baby the whole weekend just going with the flow and letting everyone play with him and hold him. He didn't make it into the water this year but we did take a boat ride and he liked that for most of the time.
We also found out that Clay sleeping in the pack n' play does not do much for a good night sleep. The mattress in both the bassinet and in the bottom of the pack and play are far softer than in Clay's crib which makes it hard to him to roll around the way he usually does at night. Clay was grunting all night in his unsuccessful attempts to move around, keeping himself and his tired parents awake.
While at the lake we finally figured out who Clay looks like. There is a picture of Grandpa Miller as a baby on the wall and it looks amazingly similar to Clay. Let's hope he takes after Grandpa in personality as well.
See if you see the resemblance:

Tomorrow we're going house hunting with Uncle Brad in Broad Ripple and then we're going for a tour of the new stadium in Indianapolis, Lucas Oil Stadium. Clay's got his Colts outfit all picked out already and we'll be sure to take and share lots more pictures.
Yesterday was Clay's 2 month appointment at the pediatrician. He is now 10 lbs 4 oz. and 21 inches long. A very healthy boy. Still not sure how he manages to gain weight when he spits up what seems like more than went in. Dr. McAteer was quite impressed with how much he's grown and changed in the month since she saw him last. She gushes over him everytime he's there (we're sure she does that with all the babies but we like to pretend we are special) Along with the 2 month check up came 4 shots and some medicine by mouth. Poor little guy :( Daddy held Clay for the shot at the 1 week visit so it was mommy's turn this time. It is the sadest thing to see your own child in pain. Just when we got the first shot finished and he settled himself just enough thinking that it was over BAM! another shot and a desperate look at mommy in a plea to be saved, then two more of exactly the same thing. Clay was so worn out that he slept all day waking up only to eat. Mommy felt so bad for him she cuddled him on the couch all day.
Clay is loving bathtime in the big tub now. It is much easier for us too as he sits in his little hammock and we can pour water all over him. This week we got out the lion towel which was super cute. We even got video of clay "roaring", or making just enough noise that you can pretend he is roaring. Very cute no matter what!
We are headed to the lake this weekend and are sure to have many great pictures to share when we get back.
Here's some pictures of our growing boy...

How many months old is Clay today?
