Did I hear a "Mama" in there?

Brian and I have been attempting to get Clay to say mama and dada for awhile now. We try to be fair and work on both but we secretly hope that it will be our own title that comes out of his mouth first. What parent wouldn't want that? Clay has started babbling a lot more again and I think he is out of his all raspberry all the time mode. In the midst of his babbling I am hearing a lot of the "M" sound and what seems to be a "ma ma ma ma". I'm sure its not with a whole lot of purpose yet but it just warms my heart everytime he does it to think that we might be getting close to him saying it for real. I have a video of him "talking" but will have to get help putting it on here (i'm still a little deficient when it comes to some things computer).

I hear the little one waking now - time to start his day!

8 months Old Already!

Oh my goodness, we have an 8 month old! How does this happen so fast? Our little Clay is getting himself into all sorts of things now that he is motoring around on his own (with mommy or daddy close behind of course). He has developed a fascination with crawling under things now making him difficult to pick up. He crawls under the chair in the office to push the buttons on the computer, under the side table to get to lamp cords (big no no we are trying to break him of right now with no success thus far). Clay can now stand up using just about anything, very cute when he is looking at you over the railing in his crib, not so cute when he is able to reach your water glass and dump it all over the floor.

We have been working on eating finger foods, and I use the term eating loosely as it is more of a mushing up in our hands than anything else, but we're trying. The teething toast is going great and is super messy and fun (yes we are cutting more teeth again, for those of you keeping count at home we can see 7 now and might have another coming through soon). He also likes to be a big boy and takes bites off a banana if mommy or daddy have one.

This week Clay and mommy were without daddy for a few days as he traveled to Arizona for a conference. We missed him lots and had an eventful time while he was gone. Grandma and Grandpa Swinter came down for a few days to keep us company and had a great visit with us... and the mouse that has found his way into our home. The mouse must be a magician since one of the sticky traps has disappeared and it is not attached to a cat paw. We also had some big storms come through and wound up with a nice little lake in the front yard. Mommy tried to clear the storm drains with no avail - Clay did a good job lightening the mood as he laughed at mommy the whole time from his stroller. Later that night, the power went out, the flashlights were dead and little Mr. Clay could not get to bed. The power came back on as we were packing by flashlight to go stay the night at uncle Brad's house. Needless to say ... we are so happy to have daddy back home and I have found a new appreciation for single parents. It is a very hard job and I am so thankful for our wonderful husband/ daddy and all that he does!

Here's some cute pictues of our little man...

We Know, We're Slow

Been a long time since we've updated, so here's some new pictures and even a couple videos to keep our viewers happy.

First, a picture from inauguration day. Same shirt from when we posted on election day, but its amazing how in 2 months we've gone from not even close to being able to crawl to standing up holding on to stuff...

Random picture of Clay playing in the front room. We've really got a ton of use out of that room after barely setting foot in it before Clay got here.

Who needs expensive toys when you have door stops...

We have read and were told that Clay's eye color could change up to about 9 months or so. I'd say that so far we're still holding strong with the blueness...

Hey, how's it goin...

Finally, here's Clay's very unscientific Super Bowl pick for the game today. I'm sure that Great Grandma Heaton is very proud of the selection...
