From the Gym

Coming to you live from the Maple Glen Elementary School Gymnasium. Yes folks, I'm currently in my office and our little boy is down in the school day care. I've started coming in to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the past couple of weeks now to try and get ready for the start of the school year and trying to get Clay used to the daycare idea. Its been going alright so far. He cries when I leave which makes it very difficult to get down to my office and be motivated to do anything. I know, he's a baby and they do that, that doesn't mean it is any easier. Luckily I have some great friends at school and we were all preggo together so we are all in the same boat and can support each other. I can just see all of our boys growing up to the great friends starting in the daycare room.

Brian and I have been busy little bees still. The school year beginning will hopefully give us some time to slow down without having plans every weekend. We have been blessed this summer to spend alot of time with family. A big thanks to all our grandmas and grandpas, and aunts and uncles for taking the time to come see us.

Clay now has 12 teeth! He may be a little guy but he is still ahead in the tooth department. He is walking EVERYWHERE now, climbing up and down the stairs (he's even careful coming down) He certainly is keeping us busy. Who needs a workout plan with a toddler in the house!

We are headed to the lake this weekend with some friends (nate and rachel we will miss you terribly!- next year you'll be there with your little jordan too!) We are headed out this evening to get up there early and are excited to spend some lazy days up there.

I'm at school so no pictures to upload right now but I will get some on here when I get home today - I even have some great walking video of Clay to post so check back soon!

A Wonderful Daddy, a Wedding, a Weekend at the Lake, and Walking

We have been a very busy family lately. Summer is never as relaxing as you think it should be and that is the case for us. We have been on the move all summer with few weekends at home making it difficult to get our house in order. It will all get done someday but for now we are just enjoying time together and playing is far more important than organizing.

We had a wonderful father's day to celebrate our wonderful daddy. He really is the best. He works really hard to take care of us and somehow still has energy to come home and play and laugh and make everything so much fun. We headed out the the golf course to play the back nine with the Heaton boys for father's day and Clay had so much fun! He got his own golf ball to carry around, crawled all over the greens, and ride in the golf cart. He may have slowed play down a little but was adorable to watch. He can't wait until he is big enough to play a round with his daddy.

The week of June 22nd Holly's sister got married in MI. It was a small intimate family affair that lasted all week long. We had a great time playing on the beach, getting to know each other's families better and getting ready for the BIG, and much awaited, day. We could not be happier for Heather and Adam and are so thrilled that they are together. Clay was such a good little boy all week long and just had a ball playing with everyone. CONGRATS HEATHER AND ADAM!

4th of July weekend was spent up at the lake. We always enjoy our time up there and feel like we can let loose a little and relax. We joined Jan, Steve, Brad, and the girls (of the puppy variety) for boat rides, a trip to the winery on the rainy day, a beautiful fireworks display on the water, and another impressive display off our own dock provided by Uncle Brad. Clay unfortunately missed all the fireworks because it was past his bedtime and after a full day of sun and fun he was so tired the loud booms didn't even wake him (THANK GOODNESS!).

Our little man has been working on taking a few solo steps since mid June. He had become pretty proficient in the 3 - 5 step range but would crash to the ground after that. If he holds on to one finger for support he can walk everywhere and anywhere. This morning he decided he is a big boy! Mommy and Clay headed over to the Beier house to visit with Sawyer and Maverick for a bit. Not sure if he was just trying to be a big boy in front of his friend but he took off. All the way across the room at one point without falling at all. We can't wait for Daddy to get home so we can show him our new found confidence and skill.

I think I mentioned it before but I am headed back to teaching in the fall (Aug. 10th to be exact). Clay will be in daycare in my school building which is great. We are taking some practice runs with 1/2 days at daycare on tuesdays and thursdays starting next week so that we can both get in the swing of things. It is going to be a super difficult transition (more for mommy than Clay) but we'll make it through. And I just keep reminding myself that he's just down the hall and he will be making so many friends and having a great time with the other kids. At least I have a teacher's schedule and I won't be without my guy for too long.

Hope all is well with you and yours! Enjoy some pictures from the last couple weeks (I've heard from the grandmothers that some of you have been waiting for new ones :) )
