Post Long Past Due

Again I have become the blog slacker. Sorry to all of you who have been waiting patiently - or not so patiently - for an update on our little man.

There are so many days now when Clay no longer looks like a baby. Yes yes, I know he is only 5 months old but he is changing so quickly into a little boy instead of a baby, especially when he wears hoodie sweatshirts. For those of you who haven't seen him in awhile you will be amazed the next time you do see him. Here's a picture we took this morning:

Clay's first Halloween was great. We headed over to our friends house (the Beiers) to hang out with them and 2 other couples since we barely get any trick or treaters here. We hung out, ate lots of food and dressed up the babies for all of 5 minutes since their costumes are really warm and we were inside. It was well worth it though - the pictures are adorable. Clay was a frog, Maverick (Beiers' baby) was a tootsie roll, and the neighbor's son Lyle was a dragon.

One day this past week, before it got too cold, I decided that I should dress Clay up again and head outside to play in the leaves. Of course, he immediately put his face down in the grass and tried to eat anything that would go in his mouth. Apparently leaves don't taste too bad as I had to fish them out of his mouth several times.

Clay was sucking in my finger the other night and I felt something sharp on his lower gum! We are pretty sure that his first tooth is finally coming in after weeks of drooling and chewing. He won't let us get a good look at it though. Every time I try he sticks his tongue out and covers his gums. Silly boy - hopefully it doesn't cause him much pain.

I also just got a part time job (I use the word part time loosely as it is really a few hours a week) to get me out of the house for a little while and get Clay around some other kids. I will be teaching swim lessons 2 days a week for 2 hours each of those days. The nice part is, its only a 2 minute drive to work, and Clay gets to go to the day care at the workout center for only $1 while I am teaching. I hoping that it all works out and Clay does a good job with the other kids. It will also give me a chance to meet a lot of other stay at home parents that bring their young kids to the lessons in the mornings. Wish us luck and I'll let you know how it goes.
